What Is an RMC?

A Resident Management Company, usually called an RMC, is a company set up to take responsibility for managing a residential development where the lease structure allows residents or leaseholders to have a management role.

What does an RMC do?

The RMC’s responsibilities depend on the leases and the particular development. They can include arranging maintenance, managing communal areas, overseeing service charges and making decisions about the running of the building.

What do RMC directors do?

Directors are responsible for the company and its decisions. They may need to oversee budgets, contractors, repairs, compliance and the performance of any managing agent appointed by the RMC.

Why might an RMC appoint a managing agent?

Property management involves ongoing administration, financial management, contractor coordination and compliance. An RMC can appoint a professional managing agent to handle agreed responsibilities on its behalf.

How does DMS support RMCs?

DMS can provide practical day-to-day property management, service charge administration, maintenance coordination, compliance support and communication with residents and directors.

If your RMC is reviewing its management arrangements, you can request a proposal from DMS.
